Falling of fruits is a rhythm to the ears
My childhood days were filled with
eating and tasting home
grown fruits and veggies. Tapioca and corn are the two
crops we
had in bigger plots in the farm. Tapioca needs at least 8 to 10
months
to have the roots formed as food. I love to taste the tapioca
and corn my own
way since I was 10 years old in the farm itself.
Tapioca was grown beside corn
and both were getting ready to be
harvested, around 8th month of
tapioca, I pulled those roots which
were young and tender and make fire
using the dried tapioca leaves
and started to roast the tapioca without peeling the skin.
While
the tapioca was cooking, I collected few corns from the
crop and roasted in the
fire the whole corn until the outer layers all
burnt but the inside grains were
so fresh and clear. Wow, the taste
was unpredictable. Gone are the days, which
I really miss in my
life.
But in few years I have created my own
farm with my choice of fruit trees and flowers, now days when ever a jack fruit or a coconut falling down, the sound was like music to my ears. I love to hear
the sound of falling fruits. Almost every day lately either a
small or fully
formed fruit is falling, and I’m getting the chance to
help others to feed and
to taste the sweet and juicy jack fruits.
Bananas and coconuts have been great
help by getting these
fruits for home consumption. Even this morning the fruits
falling
sound were something, beautiful.
