Culcutta or Kolkatta
Year
2014 was the year .I was planning to visit
several hill stations in India, when I heard that my brother is organizing a
tour to these places , I contacted him and asked him to book a place for me.
After the seat was confirmed I asked my brother about the duration and places
he will be taking us during our Visit.
I was
shocked with his answer because when my brother told me he was planning to visit
East India, I thought he will visit the hill stations, so I requested him for a place. But My prediction was wrong
about the place, actually My brothers tour group visit West Benggol, and the
most popular leaders and freedom fighters and the nobel Prize winners, Mother
Theresa’ orphanage, Rabindranath Tagores home and Victoria palace other than
The High Tech Park and Rama mKrishna Paramamhamsar place and then The ancient Kali temples,
especially culcutta kali Temple , the place
swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsar spent his time , meditating at the temple.
Culcutta
is a place full of human flood and garbage waste , which was found in heaps as
hills. We were informed by the tourist guide that almost daily 10 thousand tons
of garbage waste being gathered and composed into organic feterlizer, which fertiles hectors of Delta
land . This waste garbage is known as the heaviest garbaged known in Asia. These heaps of garbage compost
look like black hills from far, here farming has been carried out intensively. Most
of the Culcutta people are Bengolis and they
are vegetarians and they consume vegetables and lentils daily.
Lentil
is consumed at every meal in culcutta, as soup, snack, halva, as biscuit as
main meal and as curry. Daily breakfast is lentil cake, lunch , lentil gravy
with rice and evening tea, sweets and delicacies from lentil and dinner lentil
gravy with chapatti. So dhall is part of their daily life in west Benggol.
People
are every where, we visited the Jain
templae in culcutta, The jain people when they walk , they tie heaps of cotton
under their feet to avoid any insects or ants killed by them, one will be
sweeping the street with a broom them followed by other walking calmly after
the sweeper.
Only
Godess Kali Temple was seen at every part of culcutta and they refer ‘Godess Kali’ as Thurga ma. An unexpected
opportunity which I got during this visit was to get my self wet in the Holy
Ganges River, which was just at the
compound of Ramakrishna Ashram.
At trhis ashram i noticrd huge fully bloomed giant roses in various colour were
planted. Along with jasmine. Huge crowd was seen at Kali temple, but at the
asram only moderate crowd was seen
there.
During our
five days visit to Culcutta, we were served, lentil and potatoes , with
chicken, rice and chapatti until we were bored, when we requested for fish, we
were told that the sea fish is not hygienic there and people hardly eat fish
because, at teh Ganges River Banks, burnt corpse thrown into the river and
these corpse fflesh eaten by the fish in the Ganges river. Thats the reason why
the Bengolis there don’t eat fish from
Ganges river. Upon few of teh senior
peoples request, threy cooked fish for us but the taste was mixed with chemical
taste, which prevent us from eating or tasting it.
Victoria
palace or Victoria memorial is a muzium , which exibit the early Indian
fighters, nationalist and the locals who were in volved in various self
employed jobs. Everything has been exhibited in pictrures.Culcutta is one of
the land mark in India , where the English entered for the first Time in India.
The parks in culcutta very huge and spacious each around or more than hundred
acres, due to the population of people who gathers to watch the games and come
the with their families for relaxation.
The
Culcutta Taxis are in Yellow colour just like the New York Taxis. Land is so
expensive in culcutta, we realized it when we went to the hotel, which is a 5
story building but too small. The Bengolis hospitality is fantastic. Upon our
arrival at the hotel we were all served a chilled cocktailed drinks which was
mixture of sprite , lemonade and ginger, it was really a chilled and nice
drinks. The Culcutta air port was so
huge and i was shocked to see so many
Chinese at the air port, it took some time for me to realize that they are all
Indians from the hill stations who look like Chinese. Even The officers at the
airport had the Chinese looks, but these people are all from the north east
mountains , and they look more like Chinese. Something I really don’t like
about this place is, its heat, and humidity which is unbearable.
