Several factors which affects the rural learners competency in English

Something to ponder here, what I have seen in a rural school where a main teacher who is a non optionist handling the English society as the head of Panel. when I was appointed as  one of the English Society member and attended the session with the main teacher. Shocking situations I encountered. The toungue twisters and children rhymes which I taught the lower primary kids, long ago were shared and taught by the teacher incharge to the teenagers, whom were suppose to be exposed to public speaking but given toungue twisters and rhymes as English  Societies activity.          Kids just sat in the classroom and listen to the teacher who was talking to them. No interactive activity or speaking activities given to students, but the teacher was doing most of the talking. Something dirty this head of the panel was doing for years was, that she chooses small number of...

Being an observer since young has given me ample of enriching and valuable experiences in life. My first teachers or gurus in my life are my older siblings, then my Teachers,  neighbors , my religious Teachers, my friends, and the people whom I mingle with. My learning environment, my school friends, each and every one of them has their own way of teaching me or letting me experience this life. Other than all of these, my travels. Each of the travels taught me some valuable lessons which I should thank or unable to pay the fee for those rich exposures.       Regarding my siblings,  My older sisters are the first gurus of mine to let me learn the basic way of life and how to avoid spending unnecessarily. For example my eldest sister grew her own herbal garden around her house and whenever she needs ginger, lemongrass or lime leaves,...

Human beings categorized based on their family back ground or who their parents or siblings are. Being the 8 th child in a family of   nine siblings and as far as I can recall my childhood days, my dad was an explorer. I still remember, roughly when   I  was five year old dad came back from his Sounthern Thailand tour and with his group photo with his peers , I mean The Tenaga Nasional , once known as CBE and later as LLN. Dad has good friends who at least once or twice a year will travel in car to almost all the parts in Peninsular Malaysia.               All my dads children , we nine of us some how inherit his   nature. Al most all us travel yearly and we go on exploration and expedition. The first in the family to conquer Mount Kinabalu almost twenty five   years ago was my   second brother with his badminton team members of   Ipoh Perak. Followed by my 4th brother....

The Fate of certain Rural schools in Malaysia

Being a teacher lifelong and served in various districts, and at last settled in this district in Perak. Where this place my home for almost more than quarter century but the people seems just the same as before. The Town has developed, has seen many changes with new buildings. Only the community seems to be the same with their own conservative way of life and thought, especially the locals who were once known as the elite group.                   Those who were raised here pretend to be like the city lass with their life style and their appearance, but when it comes to sharing of knowledge, Oh: my goodness, nothing can be learnt from them. I mean they are very calculative in everything, sharing of ideas, sharing of thoughts and acquiring of knowledge. This is something not very healthy.     ...

FEEL AND ENJOY the SUN Rays AFTER FEW MONTHS GAP

Image
Absence makes the heart grows fonder, this idiom suits , the current situation , we Malaysian are experiencing since September this year. Though Malaysia is a Tropical country and the sun shines throughout the year. Due to the forest burning in Indonesia, We all have been experiencing a very gloomy environment and the   air has been polluted by  haze for months, until the sun could not been seen for almost two months,                 But today , my early morning drive to school almost around seven in the morning , helped me to feel and to get and experience the  Sun rays   on me.      Wow, the feeling is so wonderful, unable to describe, the green trees and shrubs has the golden sun rays on them and reflected on the leaves which turned golden yellow. Wow the beauty what am I suppose to say or describe in words.          I have been missing the bea...

Uncles and aunts seems to be far empathetic to less fortunate kids

Fatherless kids and children who grows without siblings and who grows in poverty  learns much better and shows more confident than those who have been growing up with siblings. In terms of intellectual and, leadership qualities. Those being conquered by their siblings most of the time seen as low achievers and demotivated compared to kids who learns on their own without siblings interferences. Some even at late age in life being ignorant of the basic things and experiences in life due to being controlled by the family members.        In fatherless  families older siblings in the name of guardians controlled their younger siblings as they like  or ordered by the way  they like, many kids have been pushed or asked to perform or carry on with certain activities which they themselves not sure of the out come. The story is different whn a helpless child taken care by the mother...

Divorce Parents are to be blamed for their Kids misbehaviour

Divorce parents, being the main reason for their kids misbehavior  and hardly show interest or care for their children. Parents of smaller kids , how ever or what ever their situation may be, need to really show the care towards their children s welfare, The kids whom I'm facing almost everyday in school are the ones who, being the trouble makers and hardly shows interest to learn.     Most of the kids from problem families, hardly learns or does homework, instead they try to prove that they are very powerful and trying  to  show off. These students  where ever they learn, they tend to be  peace seekers and create insecure situation  for others.      The worst part is when these students teachers seemed, irresponsible or not bothered about them. The particular students. If the care takers of these kids from problem families, could provide the kids basic needs, such as morning breakfast, lunch and necessar...

26th July 2015 is an unforgetable day, the day a great man left this world.

The Educationist  who introduced the  Multiple Intelligence in Malaysian Education system and  who brought   the  US  Notredame Univerisitys husband wife  professors Dr. Dan Lapsley and Dr. Darcia Navez,  to University Malaya and exposed the latest theories in learning to Malaysian educationist.        This is no other indidual but PPK’s Loganathan Ramakrishnan who is fondly referred by his friends as   Mr. Loga. A genuine man who lived the life of a hermit and served the Malaysian Education Department until the day he retired, during his years in Ministry he has won thousands of Teachers and educationist heart as long as he was in service. He hardly ate  food like others, for name sake he ate light food or snack  once a day to keep himself  energized.           During his ye...

BROTHERS LOVE FOR THEIR SISTERS

Growing up in a big family with many siblings and in-laws, I found that each and every individual differs in many ways. Some lifelong playing the role of giver and others tend to be the receivers for life long. I’m really shocked, to experience life long, some brothers have been the providers and some sisters being the receivers, and several of them 100 percent being dependent lifelong.     Several brothers supporting their family life long though, they have been married and settled with several kids. Some brothers, very rare ones, lifelong buying gifts for their sisters for festive days even though they have grown up and married daughters. Something that I have learnt is brother’s love their family and also their sisters lifelong and provide the best for them as long they can afford.    There are sisters who envy their own little sisters and make arrangements, so the sisters will get married and move far away from them, so they ca...

BEAUTY

Is it a smile, a   glimpse   or   is   it   a   stare? Is   it   the   way one dresses, or how   one   grooms, Is it how one apply makeup, dress colourfully, or how one acts or performs in the presence of others, no its not that, beauty   means how   one   presents, its how one behaves, its how one helps others, its how one expresses the emotions, its how   your heart beats, its the reactions on your face, its not pretentious   and not   how fair or how smooth ones complexion is   but how beautiful the heart is. Beauty can’t be measured, or counted, There’s no length or width for beauty, Its   in one’s    behaviour, in ones actions and in the sweetest smile of the innocent people. Beauty means love, the feelings, the caring and not the material, money, things   or one’s status, its   beyond all t...

POEM ( HOPE )

HOPE   Hope is when mother says ‘I’ll support your fees’ and ‘dad says “Carry on dear with your dreams ’ But for those orphans hope is When their relatives volunteer to educate them, and let them to pursue their dreams, and to choose the field that they are interested. Hope in poverty means, friendly neighbours Share food with the needy ones in hunger Hope in life means there’s always someone is there for you to listen to your blues Hope in studies means, Ill perform better When given a chance and score better marks Hope about your teachers’ means, they’ll guide me to score better marks, so I’ll   be placed in a better class. during heavy rain fall, those who are wet hope for a cup of hot coffee,   but for those who experience   hot weather, a glass of ice water seems   like a booster. Hope is when a graduate receives a calling letter From the firm he attended interview, A mothers hope is the succ...

Something to Cherish

A mother who waits for her baby to born, cherish the seconds the baby was born, the same feelings I encountered when several years ago , the project that I suggested applied nation wide and the best part is, it was launched at the place, I have been assigned to. The feeling is really great when I get the chance to observe, something I wanted for so long, happened in my presence and I dont have words to describe the emotions and the pride that, I'm experiencing.         Since young I adored those in uniforms, much more those Arm force officers and any one in defense line, I just fall in love with their confidence level and the maturity and the best part is the innocent heart of these group of people. Many of them have been my neighbors since young and few were my fathers good friends. I just adore their discipline, the way they carry them selves and how they have disciplined their kids.         ...

The Rural place and the surprises

Rural community in rural districts seemed to be living life long the same life style. Their strength is their home town, and their people who seemed to be there forever. Something that, is not really nourishing the young ones here, is the culture, which is not helping the younger ones either to excel or   to learn anything that benefit them. Due to the isolated surroundings and least exposure to the rural community, mainly the modern world, the least educated people especially the school drop out women in this district is in bigger number.        Most of these women seemed to be home makers and play the role of a full time mother, several, women involved in daily business to make ends meet. Most of these rural kids have been left on their own and hardly exposed to any activities that benefit them. Public library is hardly can be seen here, not to mention, special skill classes for music or handic...
